Gibraltar continues to sign TIEA's in order to meet the OECD's minimum requirement of 12 by November 2009 and therefore be Whitelisted...

Gibraltar and Portugal signed a Tax Information Exchange Agreement on the 14th of October.

It is worth noting that a TIEA is not the automatic exchange of information but rather the ability to request information from the other party when an investigation is being carried out by the requesting party on a particular situation. The process for information to be exchanged requires that the requesting party fulfil certain requirements which in doing so prevent the ability to ‘Fish’ for information.
